VOLUNTEER IN COMMUNAL HARMONY PROGRAM

the situation in Muzaffarnagar (u.p) is not very encouraging. everybody is talking about revenge, destruction and violence. the liberal and well meaning people are silent due to one reason or the other. those who are talking sense have been clearly sidelined by those who have declared themselves to be the official in-charge of situation from both the sides. in such a difficult situation, JAGRITI SEVA SANSTHAN along with other NGOs and like minded people like khudai khidmatgar and sadbhavna mission are going to organize a program on communal harmony in the area very soon.
the objective of this peace program is to sensitize people and educate them about the merits of communal harmony. and also to train volunteers on how to tackle a difficult communal situation and how to prevent selfish politicians from taking advantage of sentiments of common hindus and muslims. those who want to participate or help in this endeavor may contact me at 09457575017. you can also reach me through email : farazrizvi.amu@gmail.com. we will soon announce a team and our working strategy and also the list of volunteers. please share this post to spread the message of peace.

MY JAGRITI STORY : ON TEACHERS DAY

This is Deep Raj Aryan, M.Sc. (CS) 2^nd year student…..

Today on the occasion of Teachers Day (September 5, 2013) I want to say thanks to all those who have taught me right from my childhood and helped me when in times of trouble and confusion. I want to say one big thanks to JAGRITI SEVA SANSTHAN, the platform that taught me a few hard lessons which I was missing so far. HERE IS MY JAGRITI STORY……

              ABOUT 3 years back, I chanced upon a discussion by some youths (volunteering for JAGRITI) who were discussing problems faced by residents in my hometown. The line of discussion was not new (you know the problems people are facing, illiteracy, unemployment, price rise, crime, communal tangles and like) but what impressed me was their fresh approach. On one hand they were all young and energetic, ready to plunge into a social revolution at any point, on the other hand they had their feet on ground. Their talk clearly showed they meant to stay and so I decided to join the gang. Most of them were pursuing higher education from some of the good institutes of country. I joined JAGRITI in 2010 after completing some formalities. The registered NGO was active in arranging for quality education for poor, organizing annual admission drives, career counselling sessions, free summer and winter coaching, and other extra-curricular activities. They periodically organized health checkup and blood donation camps also.  After joining JAGRITI I was not active due to my busy schedule but I wanted to serve the community. In 2013, JAGRITI core team gave me the chance to work for the annual ADMISSION DRIVE OF 2013. I was very nervous initially because before that I had never done any field work. But now this was my duty so I had to do it. All members were giving me cooperation in organizing this program and were trying to make this program successful and wanted me to believe in myself. So finally I along with Hammad started the work and all the volunteers were also working with us. We were trying to search such families whose children were not studying due to lack of money or awareness or any other reason.

                One day me, and 2 members of JAGRITI met a family, and when I saw the condition of family I was feeling like crying because there were 5 members in that family including four children and their mother. The father of children was no more in this world due to an accident. It was some festival but she was preparing only CHATNI and ROTI.  She was a daily wager and was earning only Rs.200 per day (that too not every day) but still she wanted her kids to study. Her 3 kids were studying in a private school she was unable to pay the fee but it was her dream that her children must be educated.  She had requested the principal and management of the school not to turn her children away but it was not working. Really it was too much emotional case in front of me. When I came back to my home I was really crying because till today there was no value for money, for education but this case taught me the value of money and education.  I discussed about them with the core team of JAGRITI and it was good news for me, children and the mother of them that JAGRITI team decided to help them as much as possible. They got the dress, new books and a promise of safe and unhindered study, as long as they want. Now her kids will not be rusticated from school on financial ground. They can continue their study. Really I salute that mother who is facing lot of problem in her life but still she wants to educate her children. I want to thank her for teaching me the value of Money, time and education.

      As part of today’s thanksgiving, I am very thankful to my parents who were my first teachers, my old school and coaching teachers (Mr. Neeraj Goyal, Mr. D.K. Choudhary, Mr. Vinay Bharti) my friends (Ansh Rana, Swati, Kawaljeet Singh, Sheena Khan, piyush bajwan, Faraz Badar, Hammad Siddiqui, Abhishek Rana, Umesh Kapar, Niranjan Kumar) and all people who are near and dear who always try to teach me directly or indirectly.

REGARDING SUMMER ACTIVITY CAMP

DEAR friends ,
hope you are in the best of spirits,
as some of you might be aware that i am trying to increase the QUALITY EDUCATION , i want to discuss with you a few points.
1. The summer coaching programme for kids is starting from tomorrow, that is, 22 of this month and is expected to run for at least 40 days.
2.The venue will remain the same as before. (st. marys school, ex yawar hospital , kairana).
3.Class schedules will be distributed to kids on their very first class.
4.Registrations are open. to register sms the a)childs name, b)school, c)class...... to hammad siddiqui on 09528161795.
5. This year it is a pleasure that some of the best minds are coming to teach kids. however the list of teaching volunteers will be updated later.
6. This year , we are going out of the way by including everything that was lacking in kairana so far, in this 40 day run. so i announce the following additional highlights of this year.
A)ARTS CRAFTS & HOBBIES workshop
B)weekly career counselling sessions
C)HEALTH CAMP FOR KIDS
D)TECHNICAL EDUCATION WORKSHOPS
7. We plan to provide updated study material, forms and scholarship information and other digital aids to kids so that they may gain from it even after the classes.
8.Your support is vital for the success of this program. just think over it- how can you participate??? how can you give them something?? i do not want to adulterate your thoughts by suggesting ideas. its up to you.
9. I am waiting for any new idea from your side, however absurd it may appear.
because 4 years back when it all started, everyBODY SAID IT IS ABSURD!!
10. I have a special MESSAGE to girls and women of the region- GET UP NOW!! I will be very happy to see active girls participation in our different programmes.
